Here is the science!

Happy New Year! I hope you had a great start to the year and I wish you an amazing year 2020 ahead.

For me, the next 12 months are set to be another amazing part of the journey. More about that later. Instead, I want to share some BIG news.

On the 24th December, I got a very special gift: our first scientific article was published in the "Journal for Experimental Innovation" at the European Nuclear Research Center (CERN) in Geneva. Now, our work is cutting edge science.

The article describes the gap between the work environment that companies provide (in this case Deutsche Bahn) compared to the environment that employees are looking for. We used a simple, data-driven approach to help companies better support their employees in their work. There are three key findings:

  • there is a significant, measurable gap in the way companies support their employees (we have already done this for several companies and get very similar results),
  • there is a strong correlation between individuals looking for values- and vision-based work and their intrinsic motivation. Specifically, respondents, all self-identified innovators, sought self-fulfilment (50%) and wanted to create a positive impact (17%),
  • women are more likely to look for a values-based work environment than men.
